Knitting Swatches

I have until recently avoided knitting things that absolutely required a certain gauge.  I guessed around at things and it came out pretty good. But now I am about to knit a certain cabled mitten that has to fit me or I will cry a river of tears.  I sat down last night to start my much dreaded gauge swatch.  Four needle sizes later I still haven't gotten the right gauge and used a good bit of my yarn.  I had a bad feeling this would happen so I bought two skeins.  Now what?!  Guess I will pick the closest one and  go for it.  The pattern is Cable and Gusset Mitten from Circular Knitting Workshop by Margaret Radcliffe.

Chunky Malabrigo ~ Fucsia
This is a fantastic book!  There are half a dozen projects I want to knit and the directions are really well written with lots of clear close up pictures.  With the Superbowl coming on today I should have plenty of time to knit!

Years Away

I have decided to revisit this blog and start posting my knitty adventures.  Life got crazy right after I started this blog and something had to give.  I am looking forward to talking about knitting and life again.

My latest rash of knitting has been dishrags.  Here are some I knitted for a friend for Christmas.

Yummy!

I love the round pattern.  A friend gave it to me years ago.  I have no idea if it has been published somewhere else or not. The leaf pattern is from Megan Goodacre at  www.tricksyknitter.com. It is a free pattern. I love it!!!!!
